Galileo Galilei - God and Reason

I do not feel obliged to believe that the same God who has endowed us with sense, reason, and intellect has intended us to forgo their use.Galileo Galilei

Disappointment

Disappointment has become the key to the chest I want to deny.
Time after time, life after lie, it hovers on my shoulders;
Leeching my accomplishments of worth and warmth, an empty shell
remains.

Every day its something new, another thing from which I grew.
You think I’d learn, instead I continue to burn. Another failure
from which my pain grows.

A hate of the worldd that fuels my failures - when can I leave it
all behind? The weight of my failures grows heavy, shoulders be
the part that doesn’t collapse. One more day, one more dime,
and I’ll drop.

Down; deep; alone.

Free Form Tears

my eyes aren’t dry but tears dare not betray the heart of this broken teen, hidden down behind the lids they wait for the time when again it is true to cry from joy or pain. Release the eyes now the heart cries give free the thoughts and feelings hidden within these
walls you built so high defending your last reasons against the pain.

Kiss the eyes of my angel there she lies never to lift an arm again, too late was I to enter that door could I have made a difference my soul will always cry you could have been an answer to that hidden pain away from the world she hid herself until that final breath she cried…I heard you slipping away from the world deep into a shell below my heart away from me god please come back.

Again the pain holds me deep wthin my walls, the tears tease upon the lips don’t you dare fall the heart cries out a forbidden pain I’m lost within there’s nothing to shame they tell me lost upon my world I drift away from you that soulless ship. I loved you yet you left.

Lao-Tsu - Fear

There is no greater illusion than fear, no greater wrong than preparing to defend yourself, no greater misfortune than having an enemy. Whoever can see through all fear will always be safe.

A Possible Solution

Second, they are trying to convince every other nation on the planet that the United States is the Mother of All Rogue States, run by mad thugs in possession of 15,000 nuclear warheads they are willing to use and spending, as they already are, more on death-making capacity than all the other countries on the planet combined. In other words, they want the rest of the world to think that we are the ultimate weaving driver. Not to be trusted, but certainly not to be messed with either.

John Perry Barlow writes about what might be some of the real reasons behind the war on Iraq. While it is a really optimistic view of our current leadership, it does have alot of appeal to it and I’ve wondered the same thing myself. Pax Americana…through threat. It worked for the Romans, it worked for the Persians. Both fell from outside forces and a loss of effort internally. Could it happen again? I dunno.
